Alerts is a service from Google that can assist in your personal or business marketing. This tool allows the user to be notified by e-mail whenever a new quotation of a term pre-defined by him is found.

Imagine the following situation: a competitor of yours or even a work partner ends up having an advantage and taking the lead just by having access to information that you did not know. Therefore, it is interesting to know that there is a free tool that can let you know everything you need to know about a certain subject, and that tool is Google Alerts.

Google Alerts aims to monitor some information on the internet. The tool is very practical, and when using it, the user does not need to access Google every time he wants to know if there is a news update on a certain subject, which can be anything related to the name of his company, to the search for words about something in your area of expertise.

Google alerts can also be used as a way to monitor your competition because, in addition to being important to know what is being commented on, it can also serve as a source of inspiration.

How to use the tool?

First, you must access alerts.google.com in your internet browser, or if you prefer, type Google Alerts in Google, and click on the first link. That done, enter your interests by typing the term, and click on "Create an alert about". To obtain more accurate results in your alerts, use quotation marks (for example, "robotic surgery"), as this will make the search of that exact word or term.

You can also configure the frequency of these alerts, their sources, language, and region, just click on "Show options".

In the "How often" option, you can choose to see only the best results or see all. In this case, you must select the action according to the search term. For example, if you use the word "software", it is not interesting to activate the option "See all", because it is a term used in several countries and different areas of activity, the alerts would be numerous per day, and their email box would be crowded.

Following the previous reasoning, when configuring the frequency of alerts, you can choose the option "At most once a day" or "At most once a week", since the option "When available" would cause the frequency of alerts in your email address was much larger.

By default, Google sends the information to the email you are logged in with when creating the alert, but as seen in the example above, when you click "Show options", you can also change the email where notifications will be sent.
