Cardiology: surgical risk assessment scales at Ninsaúde Apolo
Rating scales are important tools when attending various medical specialties, including cardiologists. With these tools, it is possible to make a better analysis of the exams that precede a surgery, and thus, raise valuable information about the patient's clinical situation.
Preoperative surgical risk assessment is generally based on scales and standards approved by the medical society and is influenced by several factors: age, chronic diseases, the patient's family history, and even characteristics of the surgical procedure to which he will be submitted.
With the Ninsaúde Apolo medical software, the health professional can record in the patient's history all the results of assessments made through scales, which are used within the system through forms. The forms are also used to take anamnesis and you can enter results of physical, diagnostic, and laboratory tests that can be used to calculate the surgical risk.
The Ninsaúde Apolo team, to facilitate the medical workday, provides some ready-made forms containing some scales used in the assessment of surgical risk. In this way, the health professional simply accesses the forms screen and imports the desired template to his/her access account, and thus uses them in his/her appointments.
See below some scales already available at Ninsaúde Apolo for cardiologists and what the role of each one of them is in the assessment of surgical risk.
Goldman cardiac risk index
Created in 1977 by Lee Goldman, the Goldman Cardiac Risk Index uses features such as clinical assessment, type of surgery, and electrocardiogram. To generate the score, patients are grouped into levels ranging from I to IV, with level IV being the one with the highest risk of developing cardiovascular complications.
Detsky Index score
Created in 1986 by Allan Detsky along with other physicians, the Detsky Index is the result of a study carried out with more than 400 patients, where variables were added to the Goldman Index. Among the new variables are the presence of angina, acute pulmonary edema, and a history of myocardial infarction. In this index, three levels are used to reach the final result.
Larsen Index score
Similar to previous models, the Larsen Index includes diabetes as one of the surgical risk variables. It has four classifications, with IV being the one with the highest percentage of cardiac complications.
Score EMAPO (Brazilian)
The Multicenter Perioperative Evaluation Study (EMAPO) was developed by the Society of Cardiology of São Paulo in 2007, and to use it, it is necessary to add the nearly 30 variables of the index, which will indicate the risk classification, which can be: very low, low, moderate, high and very high.
Remember that in addition to these forms, others are also available at Ninsaúde Apolo. And, you can also create your templates.
